Claude Mattox joined the Molera Alvarez Government and Public Affairs Firm in October, 2012. In his capacity as Vice President of Government & Community, Mattox brings his wealth of experience and knowledge from thirty years involvement in local, state and national issues.

Before joining Molera Alvarez, he served on the Phoenix City Council from January 3, 2000 to January 3, 2012. Mattox' city council responsibilities included chairman of the Public Safety and Veterans Subcommittee and as a member of the Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability Subcommittee, the Finance, Efficiency and Innovation Subcommittee and the Phoenix Audit Committee. Mattox served as 2009 Chairman of the National League of Cities Energy, Environment, & Natural Resources (EENR) Steering and Policy Committee, 2010 - 2011 President of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Municipal Water Users Association (AMWUA), as the Phoenix representative on the League of Arizona Cities and Towns' executive committee and resolutions committee, Ex-officio member of the Maryvale Revitalization Board of Directors, Board of Director of Gompers Habilitation Center and founder of the School to Work Task Force and Let's Do Lunch Youth Mentoring program. He served as Vice Mayor of Phoenix City Council in 2002.

In addition to his 2012 gubernatorial recommendation and Arizona State Senate confirmation to the Citizens Transportation Advisory Committee, Mattox has had many years of experience working on numerous committees regarding transportation issues in the west valley and Phoenix Metropolitan area, including freeways, light rail, bus and other transit opportunities. He was a longtime member and Chairman of the Maryvale Village Planning Committee, a founding member and long time Executive Committee and Board member of WESTMARC (Western Maricopa Coalition), Chairman of the Phoenix Surface Transportation Advisory Committee, and the Phoenix City Council Transportation, Infrastructure and Sustainability Subcommittee where he was Chairmen for two years.

Mattox has been active in the Greater Phoenix community for 30 years. He served as a board member of Leadership West, is an Alumni of Leadership West Class 1 and is currently serving as a Leadership West Class 19 mentor. Additionally he served as Chairman of the following organizations; Desert West Park Planning Committee, West Phoenix Cactus League Spring Baseball Coalition, and Maricopa Neighbors Airport Noise and Safety.

He also served on the Board of Directors of the West Phoenix Business Alliance, Maryvale U.N.I.T.E., Phoenix Economic Development Task Force, and as a member of the Valley of the Sun West Phoenix Branch YMCA Founders Committee and the Desert Sky YMCA Extension Advisory Committee, and was a founding member of the Maryvale Citizens for Arts Programming Committee attracting the Ashley Furniture and Home Store (Desert Sky) Pavilion to west Phoenix.

Mattox and his wife, Sherri, own the Anasazi Book Store and have lived in Phoenix since 1979.
