The thank you notes will be handed out to the veterans at the ceremony on November 11, 2008 at the Arizona Wing Commemorative Air Force Museum. | The Aeronautics Division is once again sponsoring the 2009 International Aviation Art Contest for children throughout Arizona. All children between the ages of 6 - 17 years of age are eligible to compete. The theme this year is, "CREATE A POSTER FOR THE WORLD AIR GAMES." Let's see how creative you can get!!! 2008 ARIZONA SASP REGIONAL PUBLIC WORKSHOPS |
| The Aeronautics Division initiated a comprehensive State Airports System Plan (SASP) in February 2008. The SASP is intended to provide a framework for the integrated planning, operation and development of the State of Arizona's aviation assets. Your input on aviation needs and issues throughout Arizona is needed. Attend one of the six regional public workshops to learn about the plan and provide your thoughts. |
36th ANNUAL AVIATION SAFETY AWARDS BANQUET
Join the FAA Scottsdale Flight Standards District Office and the Aviation Safety Advisory Group of Arizona as they present their annual awards for Flight Instructor of the Year, Air Traffic Communicator of the Year, FAASTeam Representative of the Year, Maintenance Technician of the Year, Avionics Technician of the Year, Airport Safety Award, Ruth Reinhold Award and Designated Pilot Examiner Recognition. The event is scheduled for Saturday, November 1st, 2008 at Double Tree Guest Suites, Phoenix, AZ.

Phoenix Goodyear Airport receives "Airport of the Year" award
The Phoenix Goodyear Airport was the recipient of this year’s “Airport of the Year” award, sponsored annually by the Aeronautics Division of the Arizona Department of Transportation, (ADOT). Aeronautics Division Director, Barclay Dick, presented the award at the 2008 Arizona Airports Association’s, (AzAA) annual Spring Conference, held in Prescott.
"TAKEOFF TO READING" Program
This program is designed to encourage children to get more involved in reading. At the request of schools (preschool through high school), staff visits the classroom with an aviation themed book to share with the students.
