Motorists traveling on Interstate 10 near State Route 90 will encounter restrictions Tuesday and Wednesday as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues work on the new overpass near Benson.
On Tuesday, Nov. 6, the left lane of westbound I-10 will be closed approximately one mile east and west of the junction with SR 90 while crews reseed the interstate median.
On Wednesday, Nov. 7, the eastbound I-10 exit ramp onto SR 90 will be closed from 10 p.m. until midnight to allow crews to install an overhead sign structure.
During the ramp closure, eastbound motorists wishing to access SR 90 will be detoured to Ocotillo Road (Exit 304), where they can exit and take westbound I-10 back to the SR 90 interchange.
SR 90 south of the interstate will be closed for approximately 20 minutes sometime between 11:30 p.m. Wednesday and 2 a.m. Thursday to allow crews to install another overhead sign structure.
The work is part of a $27.6 million project to construct the new overpass bridge, replace a curving section of interstate and widen SR 90 south of I-10.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
