Design Concept Report and Environmental Studies
Federal Aid No. 040-E(208)N; Project No. 040 AP 359 H8141 01L
To redesign the Lupton Traffic Interchange on Interstate 40 near the New Mexico state line in Apache County.
The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration, as lead federal agency, are conducting engineering and environmental studies to develop a long-range plan for improvements to the Lupton Traffic Interchange (TI) located on Interstate 40. This interchange is located near the New Mexico state line and provides access to the community of Lupton, a variety of local business interests and a rest area. A series of improvements will be developed to improve the bridge at the traffic interchange, frontage roads connecting to the traffic interchange, drainage, and other issues which may also be identified during the study. Environmental issues will also be assessed. When the reports are complete, potential projects will be identified and priorities established for future inclusion in ADOT's construction program when funding is available.
