Construction work continues on Interstate 10 between Casa Grande and Eloy Sunday through Friday

Drivers asked to plan ahead when traveling on I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson

February 24, 2012

As crews continue work on the finishing touches of the I-10 widening project between Interstate 8 and State Route 87, drivers should be aware of the following restrictions:

  • Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane through the project area nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Sunday (Feb. 26) through Wednesday (Feb. 29) for lane striping. Intermittent ramp closures will occur in conjunction with this restriction.
  • Interstate 10 narrowed to two lanes in both directions through the project area daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. beginning Monday (Feb. 27) through Friday (March 2) for lane striping.
  • Westbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane through the project area nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. beginning Tuesday (Feb. 28) through Thursday (March 1) for lane striping. Intermittent ramp closures will occur in conjunction with this restriction.

Construction on this I-10 widening project began in September 2010. When the project is completed this spring, motorists traveling between Phoenix and Tucson will be able to use three travel lanes in this widened segment of Interstate 10. This project also includes reconstruction and improvement work on bridges and ramps along the project area between I-8 and SR 87.

The construction schedule is subject to change due to a variety of reasons, including weather, material availability and mechanical difficulties. ADOT advises drivers to proceed through or near work zones with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
