SR 87 Rubberized-Asphalt Paving Begins Monday

Motorists should expect travel delays

March 14, 2013

The Arizona Department of Transportation continues to improve State Route 87 between Hunt Highway in Chandler and State Route 287 near Coolidge.

Starting Monday (March 18), crews will begin to pave a six-mile stretch of SR 87 (between mileposts 134 and 141) with rubberized asphalt. Motorists should expect delays and traffic stops as a pilot car guides traffic through the work zone through spring. Left turns over fresh asphalt will be restricted and delayed for up to 30 minutes. Please plan extra travel time in the area.

Work will occur weekdays from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., but occasional weekend work may be required. Construction is anticipated to be completed this summer. Drivers are reminded to slow down and obey the reduced speed limit in the work zone.
