HOV Lane Construction Project Overview

Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) Loop 101 to Gilbert Road HOV Lane

Project Overview
Motorists driving on Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) will find a quicker drive late summer 2010 with the addition of HOV lanes to absorb carpool, bus and motorcycle traffic between Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) and SR 51. This addition will complete the HOV eastbound/westbound access from Loop 202 at Loop 101 to Gilbert Road.

The project was preplanned to better utilize median space, and will add one HOV lane in each direction, a new permanent concrete median barrier, median lighting and new rubberized asphalt to minimize traffic noise.

The Process and What to Expect
The process of constructing additional HOV lanes on the Loop 202 (Red Mountain Freeway) will require occasional traffic restrictions that may impact motorists using the freeway as their preferred route of travel. Daytime and nighttime construction activities are expected throughout the project.

The project team will provide regular project updates via this website and email.  If you wish to receive regular updates via e-mail, please contact the Project Team at 602.787.3927 or email us at ADOT@hdrinc.com
