Planned Improvements
The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) includes funding to widen US 60 (Grand Avenue) by one lane in each direction along various segments between Loop 303 and Interstate 17 to create a continuous six-lane arterial by 2011. Other unspecified improvements to improve traffic flow on Grand Avenue are included in later phases of the 20-year transportation plan.

US 60 (Grand Avenue) - 99th to 83rd Avenues

  • Schedule: Phase I (2006-2010)* of the Regional Transportation Plan
  • Length: 2 miles
  • Budget: $6.5 million for construction
  • Project Summary: Add one general-purpose lane in each direction to create a continuous six-lane arterial roadway.

Construction of this section is scheduled to begin in mid-October 2009 and take approximately 12-18 months to complete.


US 60 (Grand Avenue) - Loop 303 to Loop 101

  I. Loop 303 to 99th Avenue - Widening Project
  • Schedule: Phase I (2006-2010)* of the Regional Transportation Plan
  • Project Summary: Funding is included in the Regional Transportation Plan to widen Grand Avenue by one general-purpose lane in each direction to create a continuous six-lane arterial roadway.

This project has been advertised for bids. Construction of this section is anticipated to begin in early 2010 and be completed in 2011.

  II. Loop 303 to Loop 101 - Other Improvements *
  • Schedule: Phase II (2011-2015)* of the Regional Transportation Plan
  • Project Summary: Funding is included in the RTP for improvements to traffic flow and other general improvements. Proposed improvements have been recommended to the Maricopa Association of Governments as part of a feasibility study for possible inclusion in the RTP.

US 60 (Grand Avenue) - Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) to McDowell Road *  

  • Schedule: Phase I (2006-2010)* of the Regional Transportation Plan.
  • Project Summary: Funding is included in the Regional Transportation Plan for improvements to traffic flow and other general improvements.


US 60 (Grand Avenue) - Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) to Van Buren Street *

  I. General Improvements
  • Schedule: Phase II (2011-2015)* of the Regional Transportation Plan. Construction funding is allocated in fiscal year 2014.
  • Project Summary: Funding is included in the RTP for measures to improve traffic flow and other general improvements, which will be recommended after future studies.
  II. General Improvements
  • Schedule: Phase IV (2021-2025)* of the Regional Transportation Plan.
  • Project Summary: Funding is included in the Regional Transportation Plan for measures to improve traffic flow and other general improvements.
