Federal Aviation Administration Registration

The Federal Aviation Act of 1958 requires registration of all civil aircraft with the FAA. Registration is covered by Part 47 of the Federal Aviation Regulations. The Arizona Department of Transportation and the FAA do not notify each other of new aircraft in the state.

The applicant for federal registration must be submitted with the following information to the FAA Aircraft Registry.

  • Aircraft Registration Application, AC Form 8050-1
  • Proof of ownership such as the AC Form 8050-2, an Aircraft Bill of Sale or other evidence of ownership authorized by Part 47
  • The required registration fee

The required forms are available from either the Flight Standards District Office or the FAA Aircraft Registry in Oklahoma City. Addresses and phone numbers are listed below.
