The Arizona Department of Transportation will close westbound Interstate 10 at the traffic interchange with State Route 90 near Benson from 6 p.m. Monday (March 12) until 5 a.m. Tuesday (March 13) to set concrete girders for a new overpass bridge that is under construction. During overnight work hours, westbound traffic will be detoured off I-10 at the SR 90 exit (Exit 302) and will return to the interstate using the westbound I-10 entrance ramp on the other side of the interchange.
Westbound motorists will see a message board six miles east of the closure and the posted speed limit approaching the exit ramp at SR 90 will be reduced to 35 mph.
Other work on the $27.6 million project will require the following lane closures next week:
- The left lane of eastbound I-10 will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily from Monday (March 12) through Friday (March 16) starting one mile west of the SR 90 exit and extending approximately one mile west of the interchange.
- The left lane of westbound I-10 will be closed from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Monday (March 12) and Tuesday (March 13) starting at Exit 302 and continuing for one mile west.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
