ADOT chose an overall theme of “Tucson, Land and People” for the public art on this project. The art concepts were presented at a public meeting in April 2010, where they received positive comments and feedback from attendees.
A number of images from a variety of sources will be used, including mariachi musicians, a folklorico dancer, a Tohono O’odham basket weaver and a Pascua Yaqui deer dancer. Additionally, repeating motifs of saguaro ribs, birds in flight and agricultural fields with mountains in the background will enhance the retaining walls, sound walls and pedestrian fence on the Prince Road overpass.
