Work continues on Interstate 17 at Cordes Junction next week

Minimal delays expected during work hours

The following late night lane restrictions and daytime shoulder closures will be in place at the junction of Interstate 17 and State Route 69 next week as the Arizona Department of Transportation nears completion on the Cordes Junction traffic interchange.

Sunday, Feb. 24:
  • I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction overnight from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. to allow crews to work in the median.

Monday, Feb. 25 and Tuesday, Feb. 26:

  • I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. to allow crews to install overhead signs and work in the median.
  • I-17 will have shoulder closures in each direction approaching Cordes Junction between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. to allow crews to place permanent signs along the roadway and complete landscaping work.

Tuesday, Feb. 26:

  • Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to one lane between 5 a.m. and noon to allow crews to set temporary concrete barrier along the roadway.

Wednesday, Feb. 27 and Thursday, Feb. 28:

  • I-17 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. for median work.
  • I-17 will have shoulder closures in each direction approaching Cordes Junction between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. to allow crews to place permanent signs along the roadway and complete landscaping work.

Friday, March 1:

  • I-17 will have shoulder closures in each direction approaching Cordes Junction between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. to allow crews to install lighting and complete landscaping work along the roadway.

The work is part of a $50 million project to reconstruct the I-17/SR 69 traffic interchange.

The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
