Paving along new parallel roads to State Route 85 in Gila Bend begins Monday

September 16, 2011

As the Arizona Department of Transportation continues working on improvements at the intersection of State Route 85 (Pima Street) and B-8 (Butterfield Road) in Gila Bend, crews will be paving the newly constructed roads parallel to SR 85 beginning Monday (September 19) through Friday (September 30).

Minor traffic impacts are expected on State Route 85 when workers intermittently stop traffic to work on the junction with the new parallel roads. Paving work will take place from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday. Message boards will advise drivers of lane restrictions. Law enforcement will be on-site to help monitor speeds and control traffic.

Once the new parallel roads are paved and completed, State Route 85 traffic will be rerouted to use the new roads as part of this $13.2 million improvement project.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
