ADOT Transportation Alternatives
The Transportation Alternatives is a new program resulting
from the passing of the federal transportation bill in the
summer of 2012 (MAP-21).
Under the federal MAP-21 (Moving Ahead for Progress in
the 21st Century) legislation, the Transportation Alternatives
(TA) projects replace the former Transportation Enhancement
program.
There are 9 eligible activities under the new TA program.
One of the activities includes the construction of turnouts,
overlooks, and viewing areas.
ADOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are
currently preparing guidance on the implementation of the
new TA program. As the funding process and procedures become
finalized, this Web page will be updated.
