Drivers should expect reduced speed limit on US 60

October 24, 2012

GLOBE — The Arizona Department of Transportation will begin construction Wednesday, Oct. 24 to improve the parking lot at Boyce Thompson Arboretum State Park on US 60 west of Superior (milepost 223).

The $1 million project, which is scheduled for completion in April 2013, will include:

  • Relocation of the entrance to the park from US 60
  • Parking lot improvements
  • New pipe culverts and landscaping

Work hours will be sunrise to sunset Monday through Friday except during special events at the park when work hours may be adjusted. Work will be done in several phases to ensure adequate parking for visitors. The park will remain open during construction.

The major construction on the project, which is the relocation of the entrance and the parking lot improvements, is scheduled for completion by the end of January 2013. Landscaping and incidental work will be complete in spring 2013.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the project area with caution, comply with the reduced speed limit, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel who may be leaving and entering US 60 at the park.
