FLAGSTAFF — The Arizona Department of Transportation begins work Monday, Aug. 27 to install right and left turn lanes on State Route 389, six miles west of Fredonia (milepost 30).
The $692,000 project will improve safety by providing turn lanes from SR 389 onto Bureau of Indian Affairs Route 50. Additional work includes the relocation of a cattle guard.
Work hours are 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday. One lane of SR 389 will be closed during work hours, and traffic will be directed through the project area in alternating directions.
The project is scheduled for completion in mid-October.
The work zone will be clearly marked by temporary barricades and signage. ADOT advises drivers to allow additional time to reach their destinations and to proceed through the work zone with caution and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
