Drainage improvements starting at Oraibi Wash on SR 264

Drivers should expect narrowed lanes and reduced speed limit

October 22, 2012

HOLBROOK — The Arizona Department of Transportation has started a project to improve drainage under State Route 264 just east of Kykotsmovi at Oraibi Wash (milepost 374).

The $1.7 million improvement project, which is scheduled for completion in June 2013, will include:

  • Construction of a paved detour road around the project
  • Removal of the old culvert pipe
  • Construction of a new concrete box culvert
  • Repaving the roadway through the work zone

Work hours will be sunrise to sunset Monday through Thursday. Traffic lanes will be restricted and the speed limit will be reduced. Drivers are advised to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel. Flaggers will be present to guide vehicles through the work zones when necessary and drivers may experience brief delays at times.
