State Route 85

Closures and Restrictions

Southbound traffic on SR 85 has been shifted onto the new southbound section of roadway to allow removal of the existing roadway, as well as removal and reconstruction of the existing Broadway Road.

Access to Lower Buckeye Road from SR 85 is permanently closed. Traffic will use Broadway Road to access Lower Buckeye Road.

Work continues at SR 85 and Broadway Road for the new alignment. The speed limit has been reduced to 35 mph to allow safe access for the construction trucks.

Please see below for information about restriction dates, times and alternate routes.

CURRENT RESTRICTIONS

Lower Buckeye Road at SR 85
Access to Lower Buckeye Road from SR 85 has been permanently closed. Drivers will use Broadway Road to access Lower Buckeye Road.

Broadway Road at SR 85
Access to Broadway Road east off of SR 85 is temporarily closed and is scheduled to reopen in early July. Detour: Drivers may access Broadway Road via Southern Avenue.

Drivers should anticipate delays and allow extra time, or adjust travel to avoid closures and restrictions. ADOT appreciates your patience as we construct improvements on SR 85.

While ADOT and its construction contractors strive to inform the public about planned freeway restrictions, during any complex construction project, there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur.

During SR 85 construction, plan ahead for unexpected restrictions - and remember to slow down in the work zone and follow all posted signs and flagger instructions.
