The Office of Environmental
Services (OES) oversees the environmental programs within
the agency. OES ensures compliance with local, state,
and federal environmental laws during the construction
and operation of ADOT facilities.
OES works closely with governmental agencies having environmental
mandates including the Environmental Protection Agency
and the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
OES is divided into 4 groups, which include:
• Compliance Group
The Compliance Group provides information to
help ensure that environmental regulatory requirements
are met for all ADOT activities. This includes mitigation
measures resulting from the environmental investigations,
terms and conditions of Section 404 permitting, and many
more regulatory acts.
• Water Quality
Group
The Water Quality Group provides information
on regulatory requirements on surface and groundwater
for all ADOT activities. This includes
requirements for the storm water program and aquifer protection
program.
• Policy and
Standards Group
The
Policy and Standards Group develops critical environmental
governance policy and guidance. This Group is also instrumental
in the creation, development and implementation of environmental
management systems at ADOT.
• Roadside
Resources Group
The Roadside Resources Group is responsible for
managing land, wildlife, and vegetation along roadway
corridors throughout the state primarily for reasons of
public safety, infrastructure maintenance, and ecological
management.
