The reconstruction of pedestrian crosswalk facilities at the various cross street intersections along I-17 began on Monday October 31, 2016, and continue nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday. Work will occur at two cross streets simultaneously.
This process will occur nightly on cross streets along I-17 beginning with Dunlap Avenue at the north boundary of the project and continuing south to 19th Avenue until summer 2017.
Sidewalk improvements needed for compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements are ongoing throughout the corridor.
Please be aware of the following restrictions:
Pavement Preservation work on the I-17 mainline is scheduled to begin March 17, 2017, and continue through the end of May 2017. Interstate 17 will be closed in approximately three-mile increments beginning Friday nights at 10 p.m. and re-opening by 5 a.m. the following Monday morning.
Night time work is scheduled from Tuesday March 28, through Thursday March 30, as follows:
- Westbound Glendale Avenue narrowed (one lane closed) overnight between 24th Drive and 25th Avenue from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Northbound I-17 narrowed to two lanes overnight between 19th Avenue and Buckeye Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Drivers should consider alternate routes, including Loop 101 and southbound State Route 51, while the first of a series weekend closures for the I-17 paving work is in place.
Plan for 10 – 14 Weekend Closures of Interstate 17 Beginning March 17, 2017. Five weekend closures of southbound I-17 are scheduled to occur first, followed by five weekend closures of northbound I-17.
Note: Schedules are subject to change because of weather or other unforeseen factors.
No work is scheduled March 31 through April 3 because of the
NCAA Men’s Final Four Championship in Glendale and over the Memorial Day Holiday
Signage will guide drivers through detour routes, which are:
- The north- and southbound I-17 frontage road when work is occurring between Dunlap Avenue and the I-10/I-17 Stack Interchange
- 19th Avenue when work is occurring south of the I-10/I-17 Stack
Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.
