The Arizona Department of Transportation, in association with the Federal Highway Administration, is proposing to construct a new port of entry at approximately milepost 322 on westbound I-40, west of Chambers.
The existing Sanders Port of Entry on I-40 at milepost 341 was constructed in 1966 and is not able to meet demand generated by current and future truck traffic. The new Chambers Port of Entry will manage and regulate commercial traffic entering Arizona in a more efficient manner.
The project is currently in the design phase. Construction funding is not currently programmed, and a schedule for construction has not been established.
