Loop 303 from Interstate 10 to State Route 30

Study Update

In 2013, ADOT and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) reinitiated the study of Loop 303 south of Van Buren Street to State Route 30. The original study was placed on hold in 2009 due to uncertain funding levels for the Regional Transportation Plan and questions concerning the location of the system interchange between Loop 303 and SR 30.

The draft reports — Environmental Assessment (EA) and Design Concept Report (DCR) — will be available in fall 2014. Construction on Loop 303 to connect I-10 south to Van Buren Street is estimated to begin in 2016.

Although the initial construction will extend Loop 303 to Van Buren Street, the study plans for a further extension to the proposed SR 30. The proposed ultimate plan for this section of Loop 303 includes four general-purpose lanes and one high-occupancy vehicle (carpool) lane in each direction for the entire length of the project.

In late 2014, ADOT will initiate the public hearing process. The hearing will be your opportunity to provide feedback on the project and the Draft EA and DCR.
