Phoenix Metro Area Projects

U.S. Route 60 (Grand Avenue) Improvement Project:
Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway to McDowell Road

The Arizona Department of Transportation will continue to make improvements to US 60 (Grand Avenue) between Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway and McDowell Road near downtown Phoenix. Included in the project are efforts that will improve traffic flow and capacity and enhance the aesthetics along the corridor. The work will build upon the already-completed widening project along Grand Avenue. This project is part of the Regional Transportation Plan and is funded by the half-cent sales tax under the voter-approved Proposition 400.

What to Expect

The US 60 Improvement Project will consist of several phases of construction along the corridor, beginning and concluding at different times during the next several years. As a result, motorists and the public should expect periods of active construction zones on US 60 between Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway and McDowell Road beginning summer 2012 through 2014, with landscape restoration ongoing through 2015.

Work Hours

During active phases of construction, crews generally work 8- to 10-hour shifts, Monday through Friday. Unless otherwise noted, shifts begin at approximately 5:30 a.m. during spring and summer and approximately 7 a.m. during fall and winter. Some night work and preapproved weekend work may be necessary. ADOT informs motorists, local communities and the public in advance if overnight or weekend work is scheduled.
