Rest Area Locations

Bouse Wash Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-10 at milepost 53. This Rest Area is approximately 100 miles west of Phoenix. The nearest large community is Vicksburg located about 7 miles to the west.

Burnt Well Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-10 at milepost 86. This Rest Area is approximately 64 miles west of Phoenix. The nearest large community is Tonopah located about 8 miles to the east.

Canoa Ranch Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-19 between mileposts 32 and 33. This southern Arizona Rest Area is located approximately 35 miles south of Tucson and 30 mile north of the border of Mexico. The nearest large community is Green Valley about 8 miles to the north and Nogales about 30 miles to the south.

Christensen Rest Area I-17, milepost 324- This rest area located just north of Munds Park has two sites serving the Northbound and Southbound directions, each which is primarily designated only for truck parking. These rest areas are not functioning at full capacity as only formalized truck stalls are marked on the pavement.  Porta-Johns are available along with hand wash stations. A caretaker is present 8 hours a day at each of these sites. 

Ehrenberg Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-10 between mileposts 4 and 5. This Rest Area is on the border of California, 4 miles east of Blythe. The nearest community is Quartzsite, located about 13 miles to the east.

Hassayampa Rest Area serves traffic (in both directions) on US 60 between mileposts 116 and 117. It is a non-interstate Rest Area. This Rest Area is located between Wickenburg and Surprise. The nearest large community is Wickenburg located about 6 miles to the east.

Haviland Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-40 between mileposts 22 and 23 near Mohave Valley and Kingman. The nearest large community is Kingman located 23 miles to the north.

McGuireville Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-17 between mileposts 296 and 297. McGuireville is located about 43 miles south of Flagstaff near Camp Verde and Sedona.

Meteor Crater Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-40 between mileposts 235 and 237. The northern Arizona rest area is located between Flagstaff and Winslow, both of which are 30 miles to the west and east respectively. The rest area is a short drive north of the actual meteor crater itself.

Mohawk Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-8 at milepost 56. Mohawk Rest Area is located 50 miles east of Yuma and 11 miles west of Dateland.

Painted Cliffs Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-40 at milepost 358. This northeastern Rest Area is on the border of New Mexico.

Parks Rest Area I-40, milepost 185- This rest area located 25 minutes west of Flagstaff and just west of Bellemont has two sites serving the Eastbound and Westbound directions, each of which is primarily designated only for truck parking. These rest areas are not functioning at full capacity as only formalized truck stalls are marked on the pavement.  Porta-Johns are available along with hand wash stations. Sacaton Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-10 between mileposts 181 and 184. This Rest Area is about 30 miles east of Phoenix. The nearest large community is Casa Grande about 12 miles to the east. Sacaton Rest Area is the only State owned and operated rest area between Phoenix and Tucson.

Salt River Canyon Rest Area is located between mileposts 292 and 293 on US 60. It is a non-interstate Rest Area. Salt River Canyon Rest Area is located on the San Carlos Apache and White Mountain Apache Reservation. This site is sits on the banks of the Salt River and has wonderful canyon views. It is unique because of its minute footprint; it is powered by a series of solar arrays and uses a composting vault collection system.

San Simon Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-10 at milepost 388. This southeastern Rest Area is located on the border of New Mexico. The nearest large community is Lordsburg New Mexico about 20 miles to the east and San Simon about 9 miles to the west.

Sentinel Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-8 between milepost 83 and 84. This Rest Area is approximately 20 miles east of Dateland and 30 miles west of Gila Bend.

Sunset Point Rest Area Rehabilitation Project

Sunset Point Rest Area Located on the SB side and serves both directions on I-17 between mileposts 251 and 252. Sunset Point Rest Area is Arizona’s most popular rest area located 40 miles north of Phoenix and perched on the edge of a valley offering a sweeping view of the Bradshaw Mountains to the west. The nearest large communities are Black Canyon City to the south and Cordes Lakes to the north.

Texas Canyon Rest Area serves traffic in both directions on I-10 between mileposts 320 and 321. This Rest Area is about 70 miles east of Tucson. The nearest large community is Benson about 20 miles to the west and Wilcox about 20 miles to the east.
