ADOT Kids: Create your own traffic safety message

Hey kids! Have you seen the creative safety messages that are sometimes displayed on the highway overhead message boards? The messages sometimes relate to concerts and sporting events happening in the Valley or they’ll reference certain holidays like Halloween or Thanksgiving.

But there’s one thing that’s consistent with our messages: They all have to do with traffic safety. Whether that’s encouraging drivers to use their blinkers or wear seatbelts, to slow down or drive with care, we want to remind motorists to make better decisions behind the wheel and start conversations around safe driving.

We know kids are extremely creative, so we want to see what kind of messages you can come up with in our ADOT Kids Safety Message Challenge!

Here’s how the challenge works:

  • Brainstorm a creative, engaging traffic safety message. Let your imagination run wild! As long as it relates to traffic safety, it’s completely fair game.
  • Fill out the activity sheet with your message. We’ve created a coloring sheet for you to create your own messages, but if your message needs more space, that’s OK. You can use your own paper or even create a message digitally.
  • Send your submissions to [email protected]

Submissions are open from now through Saturday, Sept. 3. We’ll feature all of your entries on our social media pages.

Have fun with it! We can’t wait to see your entries!
