Commercial Vehicle Permits

Vehicle Identification Inspections
The vehicle inspection program utilizes certified officers to help combat vehicle theft in Arizona. In most cases, these vehicles have been considered a total loss (salvage) and require an inspection to make sure the vehicle has been repaired and is properly equipped for highway use. A vehicle inspection is also required for vehicles with title or paperwork issues and vehicles that cannot be identified due to a missing vehicle identification number (VIN).
Registration Compliance
The Registration Compliance Program is responsible for investigating cases of Arizona's residents who fail to comply with Arizona's registration laws.
New Entrant
The New Entrant Motor Carrier Safety Program is designed to help new motor carrier operations understand the complex federal and state regulations that motor carriers are required to follow.
Fuel Tax Evasion
Provides important information about the laws, fuel-fraud schemes and allows online reporting of suspected fraud or other noncompliance.

Ports of Entry
Ports of entry monitor all commercial traffic entering Arizona for registration, taxes, size and weight restrictions, commercial driver license requirements, insurance requirements and equipment safety requirements, and issue permits as required.
Virtual Port Technology
The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Enforcement and Compliance Division (ECD) is committed to the safe and efficient movement of goods and services through the State of Arizona. Through the use of technology, ADOT ECD is paving the way with the implementation of a new and innovative commercial truck screening system.
Office of Inspector General
This program conducts criminal and administrative investigations related to all facets of agency operations, including title, registration, and driver license fraud; titling of stolen vehicles; and licensed and unlicensed car dealer investigations, and provides a multitude of services to the law-enforcement community throughout the nation.
Border Liaison Unit
This unit works together with the Motor Carrier Industry and provides multiple topic workshops and instructional classes to promote and ensure the safe efficient movement of people, goods and services through our southern international ports of entry while promoting compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
