Riggs Road Traffic Interchange at SR 347

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated a scoping study, in partnership with the Maricopa Association of Governments (MAG) and the Gila River Indian Community on the proposed traffic interchange at Riggs Road and State Route 347.

This scoping study follows a study conducted by MAG on the SR 347 Corridor, which identified the need for a new grade-separated interchange at Riggs Road (i.e., a bridge) to address traffic congestion and safety. The study will evaluate alternatives for the interchange design and identify the preferred alternatives in a Design Concept Report and Environmental Assessment Document.

Study Schedule

The study is expected to be ongoing through the end of 2024.  If a build alternative is selected in 2024, the project is anticipated to begin construction by the end of 2025, depending on right of way acquisition and utility relocation.

Public Input

The public will have an opportunity to provide input during the study. This will include a public hearing for the release of the Draft Environmental Assessment, which will include the Recommended Alternative. Information on public engagement opportunities will be posted to the website once they are finalized.
