Commercial Driver License (CDL)

Customers who received a letter from MVD indicating their medical certification will be expiring in 2018 may need to take action. It is likely the medical certification will expire by September 1, 2020. The letter is labeled MEDICAL ELIGIBILITY EXPIRATION.

Please activate or log in to your AZ MVD Now account at www.azmvdnow.gov, go to the “Driver License ID” menu item and select "Verify My CDL Medical Status."  This will have current, accurate information on your license status.

License Information

The Motor Vehicle Division of ADOT serves Arizona residents by issuing CDLs and conducting knowledge and road/skills tests at any CDL office.

Vehicles Requiring a CDL

These are guidelines for determining vehicles that require a commercial driver license to operate.

Tests and Manuals

You are required to answer at least 80 percent of the questions on each knowledge test correctly and to complete a road/skills test in the class of vehicle you intend to drive.
