District-wide Pavement Preservation Projects - Central

The Arizona Department of Transportation has allocated $36 million for multiple pavement preservation projects on highways across the state during fiscal year 2020, which began July 1 and ends on June 30, 2020.

ADOT evaluated existing pavement conditions to identify locations in each of its seven districts that are currently in good condition. The goal is to undertake preventative-maintenance projects in those locations now so roadways remain in good condition vs. undertaking much more costly and impactful repair projects later - after the pavement has deteriorated. Investing in preventative-maintenance projects directly aligns with ADOT’s Long Range Transportation Plan goal of maintaining, preserving and extending the service life of existing state transportation system infrastructure.

The projects selected in the Central District are a mix of fog seal and crack fill work which will protect and extend pavement life. The current slate of projects will begin in fall 2019 and are expected to be completed or under contract by June 30, 2020.

Drivers can expect to see crews working throughout the Central District in the fall and spring when weather conditions are conducive to this type of work. ADOT will provide specific information about project schedules and potential impacts on this page, via email alerts and other outreach tools.
