Traffic Alerts: I-10 Avondale Blvd. to I-17 Pavement Improvement Project

Westbound I-10 closed between the I-17 “Stack” interchange and 43rd Avenue this weekend (June 3-6)

Drivers planning to use westbound Interstate 10 (Papago Freeway) in the West Valley this weekend should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following closure is in place for permanent lane striping and other pavement work:

Westbound I-10 closed between I-17 and 43rd Avenue

  • Westbound I-10 is scheduled to be closed between the I-17 “Stack” interchange and 43rd Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday, June 3, to 5 a.m. Monday, June 6. The following ramps also will be closed:
    • The westbound I-10 on-ramps at Seventh Street, Fifth Avenue (HOV on-ramp), as well as Seventh, 27th and 35th avenues
    • The north- and southbound I-17 ramps to westbound I-10 at the “Stack” interchange
    • Detours: Drivers may consider exiting ahead of the closure and using local routes including McDowell Road or Van Buren Street to reach westbound I-10 beyond the closure.

Please remember to slow down and use caution around construction workers and equipment.

While additional I-10 weekend closures will be needed this summer for freeway deck joint construction, this weekend’s westbound closure is the last one required for the pavement preservation and improvement portion of the project. ADOT will provide advance notice of any additional closures or lane restrictions.
