Traffic Alerts - I-17 TI Reconstruction - Happy Valley and Pinnacle Peak

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises motorists to allow extra travel time and be prepared to use detours while the following closures and restrictions are in place:

On-Going Closures & Restrictions

On- and off-ramp closures - I-17 and Pinnacle Peak Road

  • The southbound I-17 on-ramp at Pinnacle Peak Road is closed around the clock for reconstruction through 10 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22.
    • Detour: Use westbound Pinnacle Peak Road to southbound 35th Avenue to eastbound Deer Valley Road OR use eastbound Pinnacle Peak Road to southbound 19th Avenue to westbound Deer Valley Road.
    • Detour for drivers on 29th Avenue: Travel south to Pinnacle Peak Road, then west to 35th Avenue and south to Deer Valley Road.
 
  • The northbound I-17 exit ramp at Pinnacle Peak Road is closed around the clock for reconstruction through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2020.
    • Detour: Exit northbound I-17 at Deer Valley Road.
      • West of I-17: Use westbound Deer Valley Road to northbound 35th Avenue to Pinnacle Peak Road.
      • East of I-17: Use eastbound Deer Valley Road to northbound 19th Avenue to Pinnacle Peak Road.
  • The northbound I-17 frontage road between Deer Valley and Pinnacle Peak roads is closed at Williams Drive (except for local traffic). All other drivers must turn right at Williams Drive.
  • An 11-foot vehicle-width restriction remains in place on north- and southbound I-17 between Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads.

Frontage Road Reconfigurations

ADOT has temporarily reconfigured portions of the north- and southbound I-17 frontage roads between Pinnacle Peak and Deer Valley roads while ramps at I-17 and Pinnacle Peak Road are being reconstructed. The temporary reconfigurations below are scheduled to remain in place through 5 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2020:

  • The southbound I-17 frontage road is a temporary two-way road between Premier RV and Self-Storage and Adobe Drive.
  • The northbound I-17 frontage road is a temporary two-way road between Williams Drive and the roadway south of Adams Traditional Academy/north of the Phoenix Metro RV Park. The frontage road is restricted to LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY. All other traffic must turn right onto Williams Drive.
