Traffic Alerts - I-17 TI Reconstruction - Happy Valley and Pinnacle Peak

Restrictions and Closures

  • North- and southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one or two lanes at Happy Valley Road overnights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Sunday, June 7, and continuing through the morning of Saturday, June 13. Drivers need to merge carefully into the open travel lane(s).
  • The southbound I-17 Pinnacle Peak Road off-ramp will be closed nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. beginning Monday, June 8, and continuing through the morning of Thursday, June 11. Detour: Drivers can exit at Happy Valley Road and head east to 19th Avenue, and then use southbound 19th Avenue to Pinnacle Peak Road.
  • The southbound I-17 on-ramp at Happy Valley Road will be closed from 2 to 5 a.m. Wednesday, June 10. Detour: Use eastbound Happy Valley Road to southbound 19th Avenue and then turn right (west) onto Pinnacle Peak Road to access I-17.

Upcoming Project Milestones

  • The new Pinnacle Peak Road interchange will partially open later this month, and is scheduled to open fully – providing two lanes in each direction at I-17 – later this summer.
  • Crews are scheduled to begin removing the roundabouts at Happy Valley Road later in June. Drivers will use a detour route for up to 60 days while new connecting ramps to the diverging diamond interchange are completed. ADOT will provide more details about the temporary traffic configurations at I-17 and Happy Valley Road as soon as they are finalized.
