Interstate 10: Dysart Road to Interstate 17 Improvements

The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration have initiated an improvement project to add an additional travel lane on westbound I-10 from the 35th Avenue off-ramp to the 43rd Avenue underpass and to upgrade sidewalks, curb ramps and pedestrian pushbutton equipment to comply with Americans with Disabilities Act for the traffic interchanges from Dysart Road to 27th Avenue.  The purpose of the project is to help improve traffic flow and safety on this busy section of I-10 in the cities of Phoenix, Tolleson and Avondale and areas of Maricopa County.

Project Update

Work on this $9.9 million project began in January 2019. The 35th Avenue on-ramp and 43rd Avenue off-ramp on westbound Interstate 10 are closed through fall 2019 during construction of a new lane between the 35th Avenue on-ramp and the 43rd Avenue off-ramp.

What to expect:

  • Lane restrictions or closures that impact travel could occur and will be scheduled for evenings and weekends to avoid peak travel times.
  • Drivers should expect lane and ramp restrictions or closures and plan for possible delays.
  • Drivers should slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment.
  • Schedules are subject to change because of weather or other unforeseen conditions.  Subscribe to receive project updates and traffic alerts by email.
