Loop 101/16th Street Screen Wall
Overview
The Arizona State Legislature approved funding for fiscal year 2023 to construct a screen wall on the south side of eastbound Loop 101 near 16th Street. The design of the wall is nearing completion.
Project Elements
- The screen wall will be built along the south side of eastbound Loop 101, just east of 13th Street to the existing wall located just east of 16th Street.
- The wall will be approximately 1,800 feet long.
- The height of the screen wall will vary from 14 to 20 feet.
- The existing wall along the north side of the eastbound Loop 101 frontage road (Beardsley Road) will be removed.

Project Schedule
Final design for this project is underway and construction is anticipated to begin in mid-2023. Construction is anticipated to take approximately nine months.
What to Expect During Construction
- Work will occur during daylight hours with minimal restrictions on the eastbound Loop 101 frontage road (Beardsley Road).
- The installation of the screen wall on the south side of the 16th Street bridge will require weekend lane restrictions on 16th Street and the eastbound Loop 101 frontage road (Beardsley Road).
- ADOT will share information about specific lane restrictions or closures as it becomes available and will provide advance notice of restrictions and closures.
