I-15 Beaver Dam Map

The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) have published the Draft Environmental Assessment for the Interstate 15, Virgin River Bridge No. 1 bridge rehabilitation project, located on I-15 near the communities of Littlefield and Beaver Dam in Mohave County.

Three issues related to the bridge have been identified: structural deficiencies, the ability to accommodate high volumes of truck traffic, and the need to support interstate and regional travel. A preferred design solution to replace the bridge and widen the roadway shoulders in construction phases is proposed.

The range of alternatives were evaluated and the analysis is documented in the Draft EA, which is available for review between October 4 and December 14, 2017. The Draft EA is available to review online at www.azdot.gov/i15ea and at the following locations during business hours:

  • Mesquite Library, 121 W. First North Street, Mesquite, NV 89027
  • Washington County Library- St. George Branch
    88 W. 100 South Street, St. George, Utah 84770
  • Beaver Dam Lodge, 452 Old Highway 91 North, Littlefield, AZ 86432

As part of the Draft EA review process, ADOT and FHWA will hold a public hearing on the Draft EA to accept formal public comments.

The public hearing provides the opportunity for members of the public to provide formal verbal testimony on the Draft EA to the study team. A court reporter will be available to take individual verbal comments. Comment forms will also be available for written comments.

Virgin River Bridge #1 Rehabilitation Project: Public Scoping Process

ADOT, in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), is proposing to rehabilitate Virgin River Bridge #1.

This bridge is an important element of I-15, which provides a vital link between the states of California, Nevada, Arizona and Utah. In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and other laws, regulations and policies, ADOT and FHWA are beginning work on an Environmental Assessment (EA), which will evaluate potential impacts of rehabilitation on the natural, cultural and human environment.

Your input is important!

As part of the NEPA process, ADOT and FHWA are seeking comments from the public on the proposed scope of construction, potential alternatives, sensitive resources, potential impacts or other issues and concerns.

Comments must be postmarked by Nov. 28, 2014, to receive consideration in the EA.
