SR 89A - I-40B (Milton Road) Pavement Rehabilitation

Overview

Project Cost: $3,600,000

The Arizona Department of Transportation has begun a pavement rehabilitation project on State Route 89A (known locally as Milton Road) and Route 66 (also known as I-40B) in Flagstaff. Work began in April and is expected to conclude in summer 2022. The project limits are Forest Meadows Street to Phoenix Avenue.

The work consists of removing the existing pavement by milling and replacing it with new pavement. Additional work includes removing and replacing existing curb and gutter, sidewalks, driveways, pavement markings and other related work. Some minor drainage, erosion control, and rock slope scaling and cleanup work also will take place just north of Forest Meadows Street.

What to Expect

  • The majority of the project work will occur at night between the hours of 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., Sunday nights through Friday mornings.
  • Work will require lane restrictions and traffic shifts, as well as temporary bus stop relocations during lane restrictions.
  • Expect delays while restrictions are in place, proceed through the work zone with caution and observe the speed limit.
