US 89: South of Page to Utah State Line

Overview

Project Cost: $3,624,256

 

The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a project to extend the life of existing pavements along US 89 from South of Page to the Utah border (mileposts 545 - 557) in Coconino County. The project occurs on ADOT right-of-way and easement over lands administered by the Arizona State Land Department and National Parks Service.

The project includes the following:

  • Removing the existing friction course on the north- and southbound lanes.
  • Applying a 1-inch bonded wearing course overlay.
  • Reinstalling roadway pavement markings and rumble strips.

Construction began in the summer of 2022 and is expected to continue through the fall of 2022.

What to Expect During Construction

While project work is underway, motorists will encounter alternating lane closures with one lane of traffic maintained throughout construction.  ADOT advises drivers to plan for possible delays while the work is underway.
