State Route 260: Heber-Overgaard Pavement Preservation

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers in the Mogollon Rim area to plan for possible delays for the next several months on State Route 260 near Heber-Overgaard.

ADOT is doing a chip-seal and slurry seal project on State Route 260 -- on both sides of the junction with State Route 277 -- between milepost 303 and 310.

The pavement preservation project is currently on “winter shutdown.” This means that no work is currently taking place due during the winter and all road restrictions have been lifted.

The road work, which is about 50 percent complete, is scheduled to resume in spring 2020.

When work resumes, drivers headed to and from Heber-Overgaard and the Mogollon Rim area should plan for intermittent stops and delays.

East- and westbound SR 260 will be narrowed to one lane in each direction where the work is occurring. Traffic-control personnel and a pilot vehicle will be used, when needed, to stop traffic and guide motorists through the work zone.

The road maintenance project will help preserve the condition of the roadway and extend the life of the pavement.

ADOT reminds drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment.
