US 60 and County Road 3148, Vernon Safety Project

Project Cost: $242,000
The Arizona Department of Transportation is initiating a safety project at the intersection of US 60 and County Road (CR) 3148 (mileposts 356 - 357), approximately 6 miles west of the community of Vernon in Apache County.
Work will begin this spring and be completed late summer 2022.
Project Elements
The purpose of this project is to reduce the frequency and severity of intersection crashes through traffic control and operational improvements.
The scope of work includes:
- Installing solar powered advanced notification warning signs with flashers.
- Relocating the advanced fire station warning sign.
- Removing existing STOP signs.
- Installing solar powered, oversized STOP signs with reflective tape and LED flashers.
- Installing radar detector and radio on new STOP sign poles.
What to Expect During Construction
All work will occur within the existing ADOT right-of-way.
There will be no traffic restrictions on US 60 or CR 3148. The work will be done on the shoulders along US 60 and off the roadway near the intersection.
