Traffic Alert - Stockton Hill Road Safety Project

Construction on new safety project on Stockton Hill Road in Kingman begins Sept. 20

The Arizona Department of Transportation, in coordination with the city of Kingman, advises drivers to plan for overnight lane restrictions on Stockton Hill Road, from Detroit Avenue to Airway Avenue, for work on a safety improvement project beginning Monday, Sept.20. The project is scheduled to be completed in late fall.

What to expect during construction:

  • Most of the work will take place overnight from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday.
  • Motorists should be prepared for delays in the work zone.
  • One travel lane in each direction will remain open at all times.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.

The project will enhance driver and pedestrian safety in a 1.2-mile section of the city’s busy retail, commercial and medical corridor.

Work includes:

  • Installing advanced street-name signs.
  • Installing speed feedback signs.
  • Installing protected and permissive left-turn arrows.
  • Upgrading the reflective borders on the traffic signals.
  • Upgrading existing pavement markings.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around personnel and equipment.
