I-40 Bridge Deck Project, West of Kingman

The Arizona Department of Transportation has initiated five bridge deck rehabilitation projects on Interstate 40 in Mohave County. 

Construction to remove and replace the bridge decks, including the pavement approaching the bridge decks, will be underway through fall 2021 at several locations along I-40, from the Mackenzie Wash Bridge  to the Griffith Wash Bridge (mileposts 27 to 41), approximately 17 miles west of Kingman.

What to Expect

Phase 1: November 2020 through March 2021

Construction is currently taking place in the eastbound lanes, from Mackenzie Wash to the Yucca Bridge (mileposts 23 to 27).

  • One travel lane will remain open in each direction.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zones.
  • Lane restrictions will be around the clock.

Phase 2: March through October 2021

Construction on the Rock Creek, Walnut and Griffith Wash bridges, (mileposts 27 to 41), will occur in the westbound lanes.

  • One travel lane will remain open in each direction.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zones.
  • Lane restrictions will be around the clock.

ADOT reminds motorists to use caution around construction personnel and equipment, and be prepared to merge into the open travel lane.
