Traffic Alerts Interstate 40: Pineveta Draw Bridges, Ash Fork

UPDATE: Traffic shifts, lane restrictions on Interstate 40 west of Ash Fork continue through Oct. 15

Drivers should use caution and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for traffic shifts and lane restrictions as work continues on the Interstate 40 Pineveta Draw Bridge rehabilitation project west of Ash Fork.

The following restrictions will begin Wednesday, July 7, and continue through Friday, Oct. 15:

  • East- and westbound I-40 will be reduced to one lane in each direction while traffic is shifted to the inside travel lanes between mileposts 138 and 139.
  • A 12-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.
  • Law enforcement may be on site to assist with traffic control.

The restrictions are needed for crews to complete replacement of the Pineveta Draw Bridge decks and install erosion-control measures.

Motorists should allow extra travel time, be prepared to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment
