State Route 68 safety project in Golden Valley nearing completion

Drivers should use caution and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to complete construction on a raised center median as part of a safety project on State Route 68 in Golden Valley by the end of November. Final work includes installing the remaining curb, signs and lane striping.

The following restrictions will occur overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, through Wednesday, Nov. 24:

  • Intermittent east- and westbound lane restrictions. At least one travel lane will remain open in each direction.
  • Motorists should be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zone.
  • Business access will be maintained at all times during construction.

A final microseal will be applied to the pavement between Bacobi and Verde roads next spring, when required warmer temperatures return for paving work.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around personnel and equipment.

The purpose of this project is to improve safety along the corridor by minimizing crossover crashes.
