UPDATE: Plan for State Route 89 overnight lane closures north of Paulden through Sept. 10

Drivers should plan for delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for alternating lane closures on north- and southbound State Route 89 north of Paulden from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.  Tuesday, Sept. 7, through Friday, Sept. 10

Motorists should expect delays of up to 30 minutes while the following restrictions are in place:

  • SR 89 will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel between mileposts 338 and 346.
  • Flaggers and a pilot car will direct drivers through the work zone.
  • Law enforcement will be on site to assist with traffic control.

The closures are needed so crews can work on repairing and preserving the pavement along SR 89 from Pittsburgh Road, north of Paulden, to Hell Canyon Bridge.  The work consists of apply a micro-seal surface and rut-filling treatments to the roadway, which protects and extends the life of the pavement.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around personnel and equipment while pavement repairs are underway.
