Traffic Alerts - SR 89 –Walden Boulevard to Ponderosa Park Road, Wilhoit

Two-week daytime lane closures on State Route 89 south of Prescott beginning June 8

Drivers should use caution and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for two weeks of alternating lane closures on north- and southbound State Route 89 between Ponderosa Park Road (milepost 308) and Walden Boulevard (milepost 294) while crews complete chip seal work.

The preservation work, which protects against erosion and extends the life of the pavement, is scheduled from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 8, through Friday, June 24.  No weekend work is scheduled.

ADOT advises drivers to slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment while the following restrictions are in place:

  • SR 89 will be narrowed to one lane only with alternating north- and southbound travel.
  • Flaggers and a pilot car will stop and direct drivers through the work zone.
  • An 11-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place.
