State Route 68, Verde Road to Bacobi Road, Raised Median Project

A construction project to install a raised median on State Route 68 between Verde Road and Bacobi Road in Golden Valley is slated to begin mid-August and finish in the fall of 2021. The purpose of this project is to improve safety along the corridor by improving access management and minimizing crossover crashes.

Project Overview

This project will include the installation of a raised center median between Verde Road and Bacobi Road, and construction of eight new access points within the project area.

The new access points will be located at the following eight locations:

  • Verde Road, full intersection median opening with left turns in both directions.
  • Aztec Road, full intersection median opening with left-turn lanes in both directions.
  • Bacobi Road, full intersection median opening with left-turn lanes in both directions.

Green T intersections (channelized left-turn lane and acceleration lane):

  • Marana Road, Mayer Road & Adobe Road

Left-turn lanes:

  • Hope Road (east- and westbound).
  • Houck Road (east- and westbound).

What to Expect

  • Work will occur overnight from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday evenings through Friday mornings.
  • Construction-related noise.
  • One travel lane will remain open in each direction.
  • Motorists should be prepared for delays of up to 15 minutes.
  • The speed limit will be reduced in the work zones.
  • Business access will be maintained at all times during
  • construction.

Project Schedule

Construction is scheduled to begin in the summer (2021). More information will be posted prior to the work.
