I-19 Ajo Way to Pima Mine Road Pavement Life Extension Project

Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation will complete a pavement life extension project on Interstate 19 starting in June 2022

The project will extend from just south of the Ajo Way Traffic Interchange in Tucson to Pima Mine Road in Sahuarita

Key elements of the project include removing and replacing the driving surface on the travel lanes. Spot repairs will also be completed in certain locations. Work will be take place in the driving lanes, shoulders, and ramps.

Traffic Restrictions

Construction is scheduled to last through the end of 2022.. All work is scheduled to occur overnights between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday nights through Friday mornings.

Motorists should expect lane restrictions, but at least one lane will always be open in each direction within the work zone. Intermittent ramp closures will occur.

All lanes will be open to traffic outside of work hours.
