Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation is completing a pavement preservation project on I-19 near Tubac and Arivaca (mp 21.1 – 31.8).

  • Contractor: Fisher Sand and Gravel
  • Contract Amount: $17.3 million
  • Contract Duration: 420 calendar days/14 Months

Timeline

  • Start of Construction: Fall 2020
  • Estimated Completion: Winter 2021

Key Elements of the Project

  • Milling and pavement replacement
  • Adding a friction course surface treatment (ACFC)
  • Replacing the existing pavement at the checkpoint with Portland Cement Concrete Pavement (PCCP)
  • New cable barrier and bridge barrier
  • New guardrail
  • New signing and striping
