Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation in cooperation with the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) will start a bridge project on US 60 south of Gold Canyon, spanning over the Sand Tanks Wash between milepost 208 and milepost 209. The purpose of the project is to safely rehabilitate the existing westbound bridge deck on US 60 as well as improve its resistance to scour.

What to expect during construction

US 60 is expected to remain open during the project. However, beginning January 2023 westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane while work is occuring. Eastbound traffic will remain open. Motorist should also prepare for:

  • Delays during peak traffic
  • Signage alerting drivers to lane restrictions
  • A 12-foot vehicle width restriction
