Lane restrictions scheduled on Interstate 8 near Dateland beginning Oct. 23

Drivers should expect delays and allow extra travel time

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for lane restrictions on Interstate 8 near Dateland beginning Wednesday, Oct. 23.

Contractors are scheduled to rehabilitate the existing pavement, install drainage improvement features, and reconstruct existing guardrail and existing barrier wall at the Union Pacific Bridge at the Mohawk traffic interchange. The work will take place between mileposts 46 and 66 (near the Dateland exit).

The following restrictions will occur from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday beginning Wednesday, Oct. 21, and ending late fall 2020.

  • I-8 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions between mileposts 46 and 66.
  • Motorists should anticipate a 2-mile lane restriction while crews progress through the work zone.
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph.
  • A 14-foot vehicle width restriction will be in place.

Ramp closures scheduled on Interstate 8 near Dateland through Jan. 16

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan ahead for ramp closures on Interstate 8 near Dateland through Jan. 16, while contractors repair the guardrail.

Work is scheduled to occur Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. ending Thursday, Jan. 16.

The eastbound I-8 off ramp at Exit 54 (Avenue 52E to Mohawk Valley) will be closed.

Alternate I-8 on-ramps include using Exit 42 (Avenue 40E to Tacna) or Exit 67 (Avenue 64E to Dateland).

ADOT reminds motorists to plan for delays, proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
