Interstate 8 Pavement Preservation Project between Avenue 36E and milepost 46


The Arizona Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration, is repairing the pavement on Interstate 8 between Wellton and Tacna.

The purpose of the project is to extend the life of the pavement and to improve safety and the driving experience on the existing roadway.

The work consists of removing and replacing the pavement. Additional work consists of upgrading the existing guardrail, replacing pavement markings and other miscellaneous work.


Project Area

The pavement preservation project is located in Yuma County on Interstate 8, starting at Avenue 36E (milepost 37) and ending at milepost 46.

What to Expect

Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2020.

Lane restrictions and closures will be necessary. Drivers should plan for possible delays.

Work is scheduled to occur between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, and from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays.
